Photovoltaic Constructions in Motion



The Erasmus students of the Mathematics/Physics Club of our school were engaged in constructions aimed at understanding energy and its characteristics (conversion, transport, conservation, degradation) and energy consciousness (saving, use of renewable energy sources). Specifically, they created structures that are based on photovoltaic elements, such as small cars and helicopters made of recycled paper and wood. Students using gears, shafts, motors and wires made experiments, took decisions, collaborated and gave motion to their own constructions.
          This experiential learning was innovative, rewarding and enjoyable and, at the same time it served Goal 7: Affordable and Clean Energy and Goal 4: Quality education.

SOS: Save Water and Electricity!



Our Erasmus students took an action inside school that could teach us to start saving water and electricity in our every day practice. The best way is to get smart with how we use both of them. So, they wrote down and painted some effective slogans on “Water conservation”, as well as “Electricity conservation” and put them all around the school unit (classrooms, offices, corridors, laboratories, school yard).

The smart pictures with phrases that can be easily remembered helped the dissemination of the energy aim of Agenda 2030, especially Goal 4: Quality Education, Goal 6: Clean water and sanitation, Goal 7: Affordable and Clean Energy, Goal 12: Responsible Production and Consumption and Goal 13: Climate action. The next step was to exhibit all the slogans on stands during an open school event, so their meaning was disseminated to our fellow citizens, too.

Let’s learn and create eco-technologically!


In recent years, man is increasingly involved in processes that require modern technological knowledge, such as the use of technology products (use of television, PC, car), involvement in issues related to the natural environment (overconsumption of water, depletion of energy resources). As students we must have basic technological knowledge, so that using technology as a tool, we can judge the alternatives available to us and make the right decisions. Under the supervision of our teachers, we firstly studied the case of any technological achievement and, secondly, we created a miniature of the ones mostly interesting to our environmental concern. Specifically, by studying some of the energy features (conservation-conversion-downgrading) we focused on renewable energy. With the help of a photovoltaic we saw the transformation of the solar energy into electrical and then kinetic, as well as the conversion of wind to kinetics and the dynamics of water to kinetics. We finally constructed with simple materials machines that work with the above energy conversions, according to the “Agenda 2030” and, especially, Goal 7: Affordable and Clean Energy, Goal 13: Climate Action and Goal 4: Quality Education.

Α visit to a National Hydropower Factory


A day devoted in Goal 7: Affordable and Clean Energy and Goal 12: Responsible Consumption and Production was May 15th for the Erasmus+ students of our school. An interesting educational visit was organized at the National Hydropower Factory of Aoos Water Sources, where its executives informed us about its significant contribution to the energy sector and the human needs for electricity of our country.
Thus, our activity served except Goal 7 and Goal 12, Goal 4: Quality Education and Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals as well.

Working the Gooals through a Ecoaudit





















Scientific Culture students of 4th ESO are working in the ecoaudit, part of the work included in the Erasmus+ project: “Agenda 2030: That’s our challenge!”

The topics to be discussed in the ecoaudit, by the students from Italy, Greece, Germany and Spain are: consumption and social responsibility, electricity, mobility, noise, water and recycling.

The organization of work has been the following:

First, the whole group of students taking part in Erasmus+ gathered during the break time and designed a series of question about the different themes above mentioned.

The next step took place in class; in work groups, we selected the questions, translated them into English and uploaded them to the eTwinning forum.

Each center uploaded their questions and we arranged a poll to select five questions about each topic.

Once the issues were selected, we designed some surveys to be passed on to the students in groups of 4th ESO so that we could study the results statistics.

Next, we will carry a study of the data, a comparison with the other centers answers and we will reach our conclusions.

The city of my dreams


Grade 9th students have been working on Goal 11 “Sustainable cities and Communities” and Goal 7 “Affordable and Clean Energy”, designing the city of their dreams as an inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable city with access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all.
